In regular downloading scenerio; when you try to download a file, the file will be downloading into your PC from a particular one and only server in which the file is present.
So along with you when many people try to download the same file, the traffic on the server increases and the download speed reduces.

When you want to make your file accessible to download by everyone on the globe, you can link up your file with a torrent client(eg: BitTorrent,Kickass Torrent) so that now your file becomes accessible to everyone on the globe as a torrent file.
Then after when a person A tries to download your torrent file, he will get the file data from your PC in which the file data is present.
Then if again any other person B tries to download your file; since now You and Person A have the file data, the person B will get some data from You and some data from Person A.
For enabling this peer to peer mechanism Torrent Client helps (eg: utorrent, bittorrent,etc)
Words to be known:
Seeder: Determines the number of number of persons have downloaded that file and now are helping others to download the file by sharing data through Torrent Client.
Leecher: Person who is downloading the file from Seeders but not Uploading the file to others.
Peer: Its a generic term; All persons involved in this network is called a peer.
So next time when you download a torrent file,Check whether the file’s Seeders are many more compared to Leechers, so that your download becomes faster.
